Archbishop Demetrios to Receive Honorary Doctorate

The faithful of the Metropolis of San Francisco are invited to witness the conferral of an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters, honoris causa, on His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles, California. This ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 13 at 2:30 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Chapel on the LMU Campus, and will be followed by a reception in the Sculpture Garden. Read more...

The Metropolis of San Francisco will host its third Christian Education Web-Teleconference on Saturday, November 15, 2008 8:30-9:30 a.m. Location: your home computer and telephone. Cost: $5.00 (see www.sfseminars.org for registration information) This fall’s topic is: “Christianity: East meets West” (Pt I, worship) and we will be discussing some of the main differences between the Orthodox Church and western Christian traditions, especially pertaining to authority in the Church, sacramental worship and salvation. Chancellor Returns to Parish Ministry: Veteran Priest to Serve as Interim Chancellor

Since 2005, Father Demetrios-Earl Cantos has faithfully served the Metropolis in this capacity, but as of September 21, 2008, will begin parish ministry at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Tucson, Arizona.
