Hellenic Cultural Parade

Dearly Beloved in the Lord,

May the grace and peace of Jesus Christ be with you!

The annual Hellenic Cultural Parade in observance of Greek Independence Day has been a longstanding event in San Francisco for several years. This celebration is an important demonstration of our cultural pride and is a time for us to honor our forefathers who sacrificed so much for the preservation of our ancestral homeland of Greece. The parade provides a unique opportunity to share with the greater San Francisco community our devotion to the preservation and promotion of our Hellenic heritage.

I extend to you a special invitation to join with me at this event, as we walk down Market Street on Sunday, March 27 at 3:00 p.m. in unity as Greek-Americans and Orthodox Christians. Whether you are a spectator or if your parish or organization sponsors a float in the parade, it is important that all the Greek-Americans in the Bay area and northern California, decisively embrace this important event as it is a unique opportunity for our younger generation to identify with their culture and faith. Our parishes have active Greek Schools, youth programs, and Hellenic Dance Groups and it is our responsibility to see that all of these organizations participate in the parade to ensure its success.

Information is attached for your convenience which not only provides the details for the parade but for many festivities in celebration of Hellenic Cultural Week, including a special concert by the Cappella Romana on Saturday, March 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Annunciation Cathedral in San Francisco.

Thanking you in advance for your support and participation, and praying that your journey through Great and Holy Lent may be peaceful and prayerful, I remain,

With Love in Christ,

Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco
