Volunteers Needed to Participate in Orthodox Family Study

The Center for Family Care of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese is looking for volunteers to participate in the first national study “Orthodox Family in America at Home and in Church.” There are only two requirements to be eligible for participation: you must be a parishioner of a Greek Orthodox community, and you must have children 18 and under living at home. Gifting of St. Basil Relic - Stockton, CA

Nearly two years ago, the community of Saint Basil Greek Orthodox Church in Stockton, CA, under the leadership of Father Luke Palumbis, initiated a pilgrimage to locate and request a relic of the patron saint of the parish, Saint Basil the Great. After numerous requests, a relic of Saint Basil was located on the island of Cyprus, in the trust and care of a humble priest-monk who discerned that the relic of Saint Basil should be entrusted to the Metropolis of San Francisco and the parish of Saint Basil. Metropolis of San Francisco Clergy Laity Assembly Addresses Current Challenges of Society

Over 160 clergy and lay delegates attended the Metropolis of San Francisco Clergy Laity Assembly from May 4 - 5, 2009 at St. Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center in Dunlap, CA. The theme for this year's gathering was based on the scripture verse "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us" Romans 8:18. This theme was selected in response to the current economic crisis facing our society which has brought forth significant spiritual and mental stress amongst the faithful of the Metropolis.
