The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco is pleased to announce that His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios will honor the 34th Annual Folk Dance and Choral Festival in San Jose, California with his presence and attendance at the events throughout the weekend. Archbishop Demetrios briefly attended the 2007 FDF in Ontario, California and referred to this event as a "flagship ministry" for the youth of our Church. During His Eminence's visit to the 2010 FDF, the Archbishop will interact with nearly 2,000 registered dancers and singers who will participate in a weekend of faith, dance and fellowship. On May 9, 2004, an Icon of St Anne, the Mother of the Holy Virgin Mary, located in the Russian Orthodox Church of "Our Lady Joy of All Who Sorrow" in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA began to stream myrrh. On that Sunday one of the parishioners mentioned to the parish rector, Archimandrite Athanasy that the Icon of St. Anne seemed to be "perspiring." Upon further investigation, Fr. Athanasy noticed visible liquid streams and droplets. Accumulations of the liquid were seen on the cuff on St. Anne's left hand and on her left shoulder veil. Droplets were also found elsewhere on the Icon. Initially the myrrh looked like tear drops, as if St. Anne were crying. Later small, slow‐moving streams of myrrh appeared in other parts of the Icon. The parish of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Las Vegas, Nevada recently recognized its 50th Anniversary with a joyous three day weekend of events. His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco was present for the entire celebration honoring of one of the Metropolis' most active parishes. "Our Golden Heritage" was celebrated beginning on Friday, October 16, with an evening of lectures on Orthodoxy, Byzantine Architecture, and Iconography. The speakers were Fr. John Hondros, parish priest; Christ Kamages, architect of the St. John Church and Community and Education Center; and Bishop Ilia Katre of Philomelion, former pastor of Saint John the Baptist parish in Las Vegas.
