There’s
no question that the involvement of the youth and young
adults of our Church is crucial to the survival and growth of
Orthodoxy. Clergy and laity desire to see their youth
become more vibrant members of their parish. Towards this
end, the Metropolis Youth and Family Ministries Office is
pleased to invite youthworkers and GOYAns to a Youth and Young
Adult Council for the Bay Area region, on Wednesday, September
17th at the Annuncation Cathedral in San Francisco.
All
youthworkers and up to 3 GOYAns from each parish are invited to
attend. The youthworkers should be individuals who are
involved in any one of the following programs: Religious Ed.,
Young Adult Ministry, OCF, GOYA, HOPE, JOY, Dance, Basketball,
etc. The GOYAns should be the leaders of their GOYA.
The
Purpose of the Youth and Young Adult Council meeting is to: 1)
to meet the new Youth & Family Ministries Director, Niko
Bekris; 2) to create a strong network for the youthworkers of
the region; 3) to place 2008-09 events on parish calendars; 4)
to better promote 08-09 events; 5) to meet other youthworkers
and to support each other; 6) to share concerns/challenges in
youth ministry.
