Biblical Wisdom for Various Situations

There are a lot of things that we go through on a daily basis.  The following Bible verses are meant to help you in different situations that you may confront in your daily life.  Please feel free to send us verses that have helped you in different situations so that they may help other people.  You can also respond to these verses if you want.  E-mail us at sfyouth@sanfran.goarch.org.

ANGER:

  • Proverbs 12:16.  I pity the fool!

DATING:

Dating is not specifically talked about in the Bible, but how we treat others and what we do sexually is.  Personally, I think it’s too early to date if you’re in junior high or even high school.  You seriously do not need the drama.  But, since you probably won’t listen to me (although I do know what I'm talking about!) here are some verses that might help you if you are dating now.

  • 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.  Love is not about the feelings or “butterflies”.

  • Matthew 22:37-40.  Treat others as you would want to be treated.

  • Genesis 1:26-27.  Everyone’s made in God’s image and likeness.  Everyone is a child of God.  They should be treated as such.

  • 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.  If you date, date those who are Orthodox, or at least Christian.

  • 1 Corinthians 6:13-20.  Our body belongs to God.

  • Ephesians 5:3-5.  What’s appropriate and what’s not.

DRINKING:

  • Ephesians 5:18-19.  Don’t get “hammered”, but be filled with the Spirit!

GOSSIP:

  • James 4:11.  Don’t speak evil of others.

  • James 3:5-10.  Our tongue can get us in a lot of trouble.  How can we bless God and then talk “trash” about others?

FEAR (see Worry/Stress):

  • Matthew 10: 30-31.  God loves you and won’t let anything happen to you.

  • 2 Timothy 1:7.  God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

FORGIVENESS:

  • Matthew 18:22-35.  If we want to be forgiven by God, we have to forgive others.

  • Matthew 6:14-15.  Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

JUDGING OTHERS:

  • Matthew 7:1.  Don’t judge others if you don’t want to be judged!

  • John 8:3-11.  Let the one who is without sin cast the first stone.

LONELINESS:

  • Hebrews 13:5.  God will never leave you or forsake you.

  • Matthew 28:20.  Jesus is with you always, even unto the end of the age.

MEANING/PURPOSE:

  • 1 Peter 1:15-17.  Be holy as God is Holy.

  • Matthew 25:31-46.  It’s all about love and helping others.

PEER PRESSURE:

  • Matthew 5:11-12.  The reward is great for those who persevere.

  • Matthew 7:13-14.  It’s easier to go with the “crowd”, but the road to life is the narrow gate.  Stay strong.  God is with you.

PRIDE:

  • James 4:6 and 4:10.  God resists the proud but loves the humble.

STRESS/WORRY

  • Matthew 6:25-34.  God will take care of you.

  • Luke 10:38-42.  Choose the one thing that is most important: Christ.

  • Philippians 4:6-9.  Take your concerns and requests to God in prayer.  He always is listening.
