Metropolis Sponsors Golf Tournament in Memory of Metropolitan Anthony

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos and the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco invite you to participate in a Golf Tournament dedicated to His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony of blessed memory.  Events of the weekend begin on Friday, September 21 with an evening pairing reception and Silent Auction, and continue on Saturday, September 22 with the Golf Tournament, followed by an evening Tournament Awards Dinner and Dance.  The Golf Tournament will be held at the Desert Willow Golf Resort, a highly respected golf destination in Palm Desert, California. The social events will be held on the grounds of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Palm Desert. 

Foursomes, individual golfers, and a variety of sponsorships are still available. Individual golf packages are only $250 per person, and include green and cart fees, registration gift bag, lunch and the awards dinner and dance. Hole Sponsors are $1,000 include golf for two, tickets for golfers and guests to the awards dinner and dance, plus a personalized tee sign. Special events and activities are also being planned for spouses and guests during the tournament.

This event is being coordinated by the parishioners of St. George Church in Palm Desert, California, and is an excellent example of collaborating with the Metropolis in order to provide services to all the faithful. A substantial portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit all Metropolis Ministries, including the Family Wellness Center. The remaining proceeds will go to the Desert Cancer Foundation and the parish of St. George.

MORE ABOUT THE FAMILY WELLNESS CENTER:
The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco oversees the western region of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. There are more than 150,000 members in the Metropolis led by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos who serves the faithful in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. Within the Metropolis there are 69 parishes and three monastic communities. There are several ministries at the Metropolis and parish levels which provide for the spiritual and social fulfillment of the parishioners including: religious education, youth programs, Greek Folk Dance, social services, pre-marital counseling, music, Greek language education, and camp, plus additional programs being developed within the newly established Family Wellness Center. These programs will include grief counseling, lay leadership development, men's and women's ministries, guidance for the elderly, just to name a few. Proceeds from this golf tournament will provide for the Family Wellness Center and all ministries within the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco.

Desert Cancer Foundation was founded more than a decade ago to pay for the screening, diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients residing in the Coachella Valley and surrounding communities who lack insurance or sufficient funds to pay for their medical care.  Since its founding, Desert Cancer Foundation has paid for cancer related treatment valued at more than $18 million for residents of all ages and all ethnic groups.
