Spiritual Renewal Retreat: Christian Themes in Popular Media, August 28-29

The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco is offering a two-day retreat on the topic of "Christian Themes in Popular Media."  An exploration of music and movies will invite participants to consider a broader view of spirituality through these aspects of American culture.  Presenters will include; Father Gary Kyriacou, Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Camarillo, CA; Father Luke Palumbis, Saint Basil Greek Orthodox Church, Stockton, CA; and our featured presenter, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Chris Hillman. Chris was an original member of the influential music group, The Byrds, and has continued a famed career which has spanned five decades!  Chris, an Orthodox Christian and member of the Saint Demetrios parish in Camarillo, will discuss the Relevance of Scripture in Popular Culture, highlighting Scripture's influence in his personal and professional career.  Father Gary will reflect upon the Christian themes found in the 1998 blockbuster movie, "The Truman Show", and Father Luke will reflect upon Christian themes found in the music of The Beatles.

Come enjoy these two days of Christian fellowship, and 'outside-the-box' education! For more information, please refer to this flyer (PDF).
