MISSION VIEJO, CA – The first “Celebration of the Family” golf tournament was held on January 25, 2008 at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, California.  The tournament was chaired by Tony Dalkas, whose daughter Nicole Dalkas Castrale is on the LPGA tour.  Dalkas’ son, Peter, is the Director of Operations at Arroyo Trabuco and coordinated the logistics of the tournament.  Golfers enjoyed interacting with Nicole Castrale through the tournament, as she offered her professional advice to each of the players.

Nicole is currently ranked among the top 30 women’s golfers in the world.  She is in her fifth year on the LPGA tour, and recorded her first career win at the Ginn Tribute hosted by Annika last summer beating #1 in the world Lorena Ochoa in sudden death.  Nicole is an active member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Palm Desert, California.  While on tour, Nicole attends church as often as possible, and participates in regular Bible studies with other members of the tour.

Proceeds from this event benefited the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco Family Wellness Center.  This new and innovative ministry is seeking to provide for the emotional, spiritual and psychological wholeness of all our clergy and faithful. The Family Wellness Center is being made possible, in part, through a generous grant from the Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Endowment Fund.
