SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Youth from throughout the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco are invited and encouraged to attend Summer Camp at St. Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center in Dunlap, California. Three one-week sessions are offered for youth ages 8 - 17 during which campers will participate in activities such as sports, swimming, hayrides, campfires, music, archery and much more! This year's camp theme, "Embrace Your Faith", will provide campers with the opportunity to learn more about their Orthodox faith through morning and evening prayer services, and daily sessions which will deepen their love for Christ and the Church.
The dates for camp are: Session One, July 8 - 14; Session Two, July 15 - 21; and Session 3, July 22 - 28. The camp is being led by Pete Sotiras, Director of Youth and Family Ministries for the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco. Sotiras is a graduate of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. "Camp is an exciting part of youth development, and every kid should have the opportunity to participate in this type of life-changing week," says Sotiras. In addition to Sotiras, young adults from across the Archdiocese are employed as Camp Counselors and Activity Directors to ensure that each child has a unique and meaningful experience at summer camp. All staff members participate in a one-week intensive training session prior to the first camp session.
