His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos has announced that Rev. Fr. Aris P. Metrakos has been appointed on an interim basis to assist the Metropolis with Inter-Orthodox and Ecumenical relations. Under the direction of His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos, Fr. Metrakos will work collaboratively with other Orthodox jurisdictions and ecumenical religious leaders to identify ways that our common bonds of Christian love and peace provide opportunities for learning for both our clergy and faithful.
Since June 2008, Fr. Metrakos has been serving as the Proistamenos at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in San Francisco, California. A vibrant and articulate priest, Fr. Metrakos has a wealth of experience which makes him an excellent candidate to accept these additional responsibilities on an interim basis as requested by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos.
“Throughout his ministry, Fr. Metrakos has shown himself to be a sensitive and discerning pastor, and with his vast experience, I know he will be of tremendous assistance to me and to the Metropolis of San Francisco, ensuring that our Church will continue to be a visible and energetic body of Christ which exemplifies the love of God,” stated His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos.
